Case Study: Duke Energy Steam Plant
A specific application at a Duke Energy facility involved the overhaul of a Byron Jackson boiler feedwater pump.

The Challenge: The pump required regular rebuilds, and achieving proper torque manually was difficult due to space restrictions. Improper manual torquing had previously resulted in four pump failures and a technician's back injury.

The Solution: A TU-2 hydraulic wrench was used to torque 64 bolts to 960 lbf-ft.

Efficiency Gains: The task was completed in just over one hour, significantly faster than the four hours previously required by hand.



Electric Power Stations (Trash to Fuel)
In facilities that convert waste into energy, TorcUP tools are used for specific maintenance tasks in ash collection areas.

Finger Shaker Screens: Located in bottom ash collection sections post-furnace, these spring-loaded mounts require frequent tensioning.

Requirements: Mounting bolts must be tensioned to 600+ lbf-ft.

Recommended Tooling: The TU-2 hydraulic wrench is used for this application, occasionally requiring an extended reaction arm to reach the bolts.
